Background of the Study
Entrepreneurial education is recognized as a critical driver of innovation, job creation, and economic growth, particularly in developing economies. In Nigeria, university programs increasingly integrate entrepreneurship courses to equip graduates with the skills needed to establish and sustain businesses (Adebayo & Yusuf, 2024). Borno State, with its unique socio-economic challenges, including youth unemployment and the impact of insurgency, presents a compelling case for studying the role of entrepreneurial education in fostering business start-ups among university graduates.

Entrepreneurial education aims to provide students with essential skills such as business planning, risk management, and innovative thinking, which are crucial for navigating the complexities of starting a business (Olaniyi & Musa, 2023). Despite these efforts, the effectiveness of such education in translating into successful business ventures among graduates in Borno State has not been comprehensively analyzed.

Statement of the Problem
While entrepreneurial education is widely offered across Nigerian universities, its impact on youth business start-ups in Borno State remains ambiguous. Many graduates still struggle with the practical application of entrepreneurial skills, limited access to funding, and the challenging economic environment of the region. This study seeks to evaluate the effectiveness of entrepreneurial education in fostering business start-ups and identify areas for improvement (Ibrahim & Sule, 2024).

Objectives of the Study

  1. To assess the impact of entrepreneurial education on the establishment of youth business start-ups in Borno State.
  2. To identify challenges faced by university graduates in translating entrepreneurial education into successful ventures.
  3. To recommend strategies for enhancing the effectiveness of entrepreneurial education in fostering start-ups.

Research Questions

  1. How does entrepreneurial education influence the establishment of youth business start-ups in Borno State?
  2. What challenges do university graduates face in applying entrepreneurial education to start-up creation?
  3. What strategies can enhance the effectiveness of entrepreneurial education in fostering youth business ventures?

Research Hypotheses

  1. H0: Entrepreneurial education does not significantly influence the establishment of youth business start-ups.
  2. H0: Challenges in applying entrepreneurial education do not significantly hinder start-up creation.
  3. H0: Proposed strategies do not significantly enhance the effectiveness of entrepreneurial education in fostering start-ups.

Scope and Limitations of the Study
This study focuses on university graduates in Borno State, analyzing the role of entrepreneurial education in fostering business start-ups. Limitations include potential biases in self-reported data and variations in the quality of entrepreneurial programs across universities.

Definitions of Terms

  1. Entrepreneurial Education: Education programs designed to equip individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary for entrepreneurial ventures.
  2. Business Start-Ups: Newly established businesses aiming to develop a scalable business model.
